Rukuriri, Embu County — September 2026
Rukuriri Tea Factory has officially unveiled its newly branded and packaged tea products, marking a significant milestone in the factory’s continued efforts to strengthen its brand, expand its market presence, promote product innovation and create greater value for tea farmers and consumers.

The newly launched product range includes Premium CTC Black Tea, retailing at KSh 200, and Flavoured Ginger & Lemon Tea, retailing at KSh 210. The products combine the distinctive quality of Rukuriri tea with modern packaging and carefully developed flavours designed to meet the evolving preferences of consumers.

The official launch was presided over by the KTDA National Chairman, Hon. Enos Njeru, in the presence of the Chairman of Rukuriri Tea Factory, the Board of Directors, Management, Staff and Rukuriri Tea Agents.

Speaking during the occasion, the National Chairman highlighted the importance of supporting tea farmers through initiatives that reduce production costs and enhance farmer welfare. He noted that the cost of fertilizer had been subsidized from KSh 2,500 to KSh 2,000, a move aimed at easing the financial burden on farmers while supporting productivity and sustainable tea production.

The Chairman also spoke about the factory’s continued diversification and development of Orthodox tea, emphasizing the importance of exploring value-added and differentiated tea products as part of strengthening the tea industry and opening up new market opportunities.

A key highlight of the occasion was the opportunity given to the Rukuriri Tea Agents to taste the Orthodox tea produced by the factory. The tasting provided the agents with a firsthand experience of the product’s quality and character, further equipping them to confidently market and promote Rukuriri’s expanding product portfolio to consumers.
The participation of the agents was particularly significant as they remain an important link between Rukuriri Tea Factory and the wider consumer market. Through their efforts, Rukuriri’s teas continue to reach customers across Embu County and beyond.
The unveiling of the new packaging therefore represents more than a change in product presentation. It reflects Rukuriri Tea Factory’s renewed commitment to innovation, quality, product diversification, branding and market development, while ensuring that the value of tea produced by Rukuriri farmers reaches consumers in an increasingly competitive market.

The occasion also reaffirmed the factory’s Farmers First philosophy, with the Board, Management, Staff and agents united in advancing initiatives that support farmers, strengthen the factory and build a sustainable future for the Rukuriri tea community.
Rukuriri Tea Factory appreciates the continued support and partnership of its tea farmers, customers, agents, Board of Directors, Management, staff and all other stakeholders whose contribution has made this important milestone possible.
As Rukuriri Tea Factory enters this new chapter, the factory remains committed to taking the taste, quality and story of Rukuriri tea from the farms of Embu to consumers across Kenya and beyond.
